Python add item to dictionary list

Python dictionary is an unordered collection of items. We can add new items or change the value of existing items using. list(sorted(marks.keys())).

Default_data['item3'] = 3. Easy as py. Another possible solution: Default_data.update({'item3': 3}). Which is nice if you want to insert multiple items at once. So I guess the problem is when I add item i in the list for key k. Does anyone know why all elements are added to all lists and what would be the right way of building my dictionary?
